MSG

About MSG

The amount of times we get asked “do you use MSG?” is so often I wonder if these people know what MSG really is? I better not catch them eating any type of fast food, going to buffets, eating Doritos or parmesan cheese. Because they all contain lots of MSG! That’s why they taste so good.

Full Disclaimer: We use chicken soup base which has small amounts of MSG already in it. If you’re really concerned you can request to omit it in certain soup dishes, please ask.

MSG or monosodium glutamate occurs naturally in many foods, such as tomatoes and cheeses (parmesan cheese is basically MSG) and is used in cooking, fast foods and commercially packaged food products.

The FDA considers MSG “generally recognized as safe” with some people claiming to be sensitive but no evidence have been found through research. It’s likely these are placebo side effects. You will experience these same side effects eating large amounts of salt. It’s very unlikely you’ll have too much MSG unless you’re eating entirely junk food and fast food the entire day. A small amount of MSG makes a big difference in taste.
